Resumen : | Hemodialysis is a dialysis replacement therapy frequently used in
pediatrics; It is for this reason that this research arises to know clinical
epidemiological characteristics. General Objective: To analyze the clinical and
epidemiological characteristics of patients entering pediatric hemodialysis
substi- tute therapy treated at the Nephrology Unit of the Enrique Tejera
Hospital City of Valencia, Carabobo State, from January 2008 to December
2015. Methodology: Observational, descriptive study, Non-experimental,
cross-sectional, retrospective, the population consisted of pediatric patients in
chronic renal disease stage DV, sampled by 21 patients in hemodialysis
modality. Results: The male gender is the most affected, being these
adolescents of rural origin with 67%; The etiologic cause of CKD and that led
to hemodialysis was the nephrotic syndrome 23.3% in turn the clinical
manifestations were: dizziness, hypotension, paresthesia, headache and
vomiting in male adolescents 47.6% and in female school-age with a 19%.
While the metabolic complications were hypocalcemia and hypophosphatemia
in adolescent males with 48% and only hypocalcemia in preschool and
schoolgirls with 9.6%. Regarding the vascular access employed, it was of
temporal type with anatomical right jugular location with 20.7%, and relative to
the half-life of the catheter was 3 months or less with 42.9%. Conclusion: Male
adolescents are the most frequently found in hemodialysis, presenting clinicalmetabolic
complications such as dizziness, hypotension, hypocalcemia and
hypophosphatemia, as well as the most frequent vascular access is the
temporal one with a half-life less than and equal to 3 months |
